AS a result of increasing demands for lower sludge by-production, more limits on space availability, and the need for more low-power consumption, HYDROTECH also employs the technology of anaerobic wastewater treatment known as BIOPAQ of the Dutch company PAQUES BV. The process is based on the anaerobic pretreatment with application of an anaerobic reactor with an expanded biomass (UASB or IC reactor).
The utilization of a bio-gas, as a secondary product of the treatment, for electrical or heat energy can radically reduce the operation costs of both the WWTP and the industrial plant.
HYDROTECH also maintains effective sludge disposal by utilising sludge de-watering methods for lower handling costs. The de-watered sludge can be used as a natural fertiliser by composting.
