Fenton reaction and heavy metal removal in pilot testing
We have been testing wastewater containing resistant organic substances and high heavy metals concentrations for several weeks. As these organic compounds are hardly biodegradable, we decided to use advanced oxidation processes (AOP). Based on laboratory tests we chose just Fenton reaction to be used. The drop in initial COD concentrations (parameter for organic substances) in the inflow to the pilot model is approximately 50%. In the second step, heavy metals are removed from the water with an efficiency of about 90%.
